JI for NAB action against horse-trading in Senate polls
    Tuesday, March 13, 2012 (06:03 PST)

ISLAMABAD: Professor Khurshid Ahmed has demanded action by Election Commission of Pakistan and NAB against those who returned to Senate through horse-trading. He said that the parliamentarians who are product of horse-trading are a slur on the face of democracy and the parliament.

He was addressing a parting press conference after he completed his tenure as a senator. He remained a senator for 21 years. Prof Mohammad Ibrahim, another JI senator who completed his term was by his side at the press conference. Ex-MNA Mian Mohammad Aslam was also present.

Both the JI senators gave details of their performance in the Senate saying that according to a report of Pildat, the JI senators have been more vocal in the house for the last three years whether it were points of order, legislative business, resolutions or adjournment motions.

With the retirement of Prof Khurshid Ahmed, Prof Muhammad Ibrahim and Dr Aafia Zia as senators on March 11, the JI is without any representation in the parliament or provincial assemblies. About Asghar Khan case, the JI leader strongly rejected allegations that Jamaat ever sought any help from the government or any of the agencies.

    End.
