New LG system to be finalised soon: Ibad
    Friday, July 27, 2012 (03:10 PST)

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that negotiations on new local government (LG) system for the province were underway and would shortly be completed.

He was responding to the queries of media men in a ceremony held at the Governor House for handing over Karachi Port Trust (KPT)-donated 50 mobile vehicles to the police Wednesday evening.

The governor said vehicles provided by the KPT would help police maintain peace in the city. He added that tracking system would also be installed in these vehicles so that they could be used in emergency. Khan said various measures were being adopted, including improvement in community policing so that reservations of traders with regard to extortion could be removed.

Federal Ports & Shipping Minister Babar Ghauri, KPT Chairman Ahmed Hayat and Additional IG Karachi Iqbal Mahmood were also present on the occasion.

    End.
